16 Dead in Bus Crash on Egypt's Red Sea Coast

A clash of a bus on the Almara road between Dahab and Nuweiba early Wednesday morning left 16 people dead and 28 wounded, as reported by the health ministry.

The route, heavy on tourist traffic, saw nearly 20 ambulances racing to the site to deliver first aid and evacuate casualties.

The accident’s cause remains uncertain, though officials suspect a mix of reckless driving and inadequate road maintenance – a common theme in Egypt’s 6,000‑annual road deaths.

The Red Sea stretch, famed worldwide for its beauty, has endured a string of serious incidents, with this being the ninth major crash in 2025.

Investigations are underway and investigators plan to tighten safety checks along the busy corridor to prevent future tragedies.
