Chen Tianming, a 43-year-old resident of Guizhou Province, China, has transformed his home into a striking 11-story tower, defying multiple demolition orders from local authorities. The unconventional structure, perched in an idyllic rural landscape, has become a notable attraction, drawing curious tourists from various regions.
The tower exudes a whimsical charm, akin to a creation of Dr. Seuss. Its design features a series of diminishing rooms stacked precariously, with dark red wooden exteriors and a precarious appearance. Inside, the structure showcases ceilings propped up by utility poles and dangling wires, creating a unique, albeit precarious, living environment.
Chen Tianming expertly navigates the handmade ladders leading between floors, including a cozy reading nook and an open-air tearoom on higher levels. From the ninth floor, visitors can admire the sight of modern apartments nearby, starkly contrasting his unconventional home.
Despite criticisms regarding the tower's safety, Chen remains unfazed. While acknowledging that his home may face challenges from the elements, his determination and creativity have turned his defiance against demolition into a captivating saga that has attracted a growing number of onlookers, eager to experience this extraordinary architectural feat and the story behind it.
