In brief
Former President Donald Trump was greeted by cheers from the crowd at UFC 309 held in New York City, where he celebrated his recent election victory alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk and potential cabinet members, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard.
Trump made a grand entrance to the event at Madison Square Garden, basking in the enthusiasm of UFC fans who chanted “USA” and applauded as he made his way to the octagon. The night was marked by excitement, with Trump seated between UFC President Dana White and Musk, as they participated in an electrifying atmosphere filled with cheers. The event also witnessed UFC fighter Jon Jones, who celebrated his heavyweight title victory by presenting Trump with his championship belt, expressing gratitude for the former president's presence. "I want to say a big thank you to President Donald Trump for being here tonight," Jones conveyed, igniting a massive ovation from the audience. Trump, a long-time supporter of the UFC, has attended numerous events in the past, often receiving warm welcomes, although he faced some booing during a 2019 appearance. UFC President Dana White has been a vocal supporter of Trump, endorsing him at the Republican National Convention and praising his resilience and toughness. With important figures in attendance, including Musk, who is set to collaborate with Trump on a new cost-saving initiative in the government, the UFC event became a platform for the former president to continue strengthening his political connections and public support ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections.
