FIFA President Gianni Infantino has stirred excitement among football fans by claiming that discussions are ongoing regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's potential participation in the Club World Cup set for this summer. Even though Ronaldo’s club, Al-Nassr, did not qualify for the tournament, Infantino mentioned that negotiations with various teams could lead to Ronaldo joining one of them. The Portuguese star, 40, is set to become a free agent when his contract with Al-Nassr expires on June 30.

During a recent interview with YouTuber IShowSpeed, Infantino contrasted Ronaldo's prospects with the confirmed participation of Lionel Messi, who is set to represent his new club, Inter Miami, in the opening match of the tournament on June 14. Infantino hinted, "Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well," underscoring the possibility that clubs interested in the football icon could capitalize on an additional summer transfer window introduced by FIFA.

Rumors suggest that an unnamed Brazilian club has already approached Ronaldo, with Botafogo’s coach, Renato Paiva, displaying enthusiasm when asked about the prospect. He quipped, "Christmas is only in December," but emphasized that signing a talent like Ronaldo would be beneficial for any team. Botafogo is one of the Brazilian teams to qualify for the tournament.

Ronaldo previously achieved monumental success in European football, including four Champions League titles with Real Madrid before his stints at Juventus and ultimately Al-Nassr. The prestigious Club World Cup will feature 32 teams for the first time, including notable clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City, making the forthcoming summer event highly anticipated by fans globally.
