Five people have been killed and seven seriously wounded in a shooting attack by Palestinian gunmen in Jerusalem, paramedics and police report.

Israel's Magen David Adom ambulance service identified the deceased as three men in their 30s, a woman in her 50s, and a man in his 50s. Nine others with gunshot wounds were transported to local hospitals, alongside three individuals suffering injuries from shattered glass.

Israeli police stated that two 'terrorists' opened fire at a bus stop at Ramot Junction, located on the northern outskirts of the city. A security officer and a nearby civilian retaliated and 'neutralized' the assailants.

While no armed groups have claimed responsibility for the attack, Hamas has expressed praise for the incident.

The police confirmed a vast deployment of officers in the area, with bomb disposal units working to ensure safety while forensic teams collected evidence.
