Heavy rain struck Dallas and surrounding areas on Wednesday, prompting concerns as thunderstorms were forecasted to continue. Reports indicate the storm caused considerable flooding, with many roads rendered impassable and vehicles swept away by rising waters.

In Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, a man lost his life after his vehicle was carried off the road by floodwaters. Efforts to rescue him by local law enforcement were thwarted when a deputy became trapped in dangerous currents himself, leading to his hospitalization. Tragically, the individual in the swept vehicle did not survive.

Additionally, a second fatality was reported in Lincoln County when another vehicle encountered deep floodwaters, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials.

Rainfall amounts have been substantial, with certain areas of Oklahoma receiving up to eight inches in just two days, while parts of Texas have seen up to six inches. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for more significant rainfall in the days to come, including predictions of rates between one to two inches per hour, potentially exacerbating the flooding situation.

As the storms are anticipated to intensify on Thursday, officials urge residents to remain cautious and stay updated on weather conditions to ensure their safety as the region braces for further heavy rain.
