Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, following his assertion that Ukrainian drones could enhance security across the Gulf region.

Important meetings are scheduled. We appreciate the support of those who are ready to work with us to ensure security, and we support them too, he posted on social media.

Zelensky highlighted Ukraine's drone expertise as essential for global security, particularly stressing the link between energy security and the stability of markets that depend on Gulf resources. The key is not only producing new weapons - especially drones - but also integrating them with existing air defense systems, which we have experience in, he stated.

In exchange for their support, Zelensky is seeking assistance to bolster Ukraine's defenses against Russia, mentioning that Middle Eastern nations possess air defense missiles that Ukraine requires.

Several Ukrainian drone companies have reported interest from Gulf states, like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, though they await approval from their government to proceed with any agreements.

Reports suggest the U.S. may redirect arms intended for Ukraine to the Gulf amidst its tensions with Iran, making such drone collaborations even more critical.
