Ukraine’s security service (SBU) has confirmed the death of a woman suspected of a parcel bombing in Monaco.
Anastasiia Berezovska, 39, was believed to have fled Monaco after allegedly planting a bomb that wounded a Ukrainian billionaire and his family in the premises’ entrance hall on 29 June. The SBU announced that the body was recovered in Ukraine, with gunshot wounds to the head.
In response to the finding, authorities detained two men, one of whom is a current officer within Ukraine’s ministry of defence. They are under suspicion of murder. The manhunt, which spanned two countries, had been intensified following reports that Berezovska had tried to disguise herself during the escape.
Interpol had issued a red alert for the suspect and requested the location and arrest of Berezovska, citing heightened security concerns following the attack. The bombing, which involved a parcel device, raised alarms about domestic terror threats and cross‑border criminal networks.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the motives behind the attack and the connections between the suspect and the targeted Ukrainian billionaire. Further details will be added as the probe progresses.
