The officers were dispatched to the scene after a report of fraudulent credit card use. Upon arrival, the suspect, Kevin Andrews, 35, invited the officers into his room where he subsequently opened fire. Officer Tamang succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital, while Officer Reed remains in serious but stable condition. Governor Brian Kemp expressed gratitude for law enforcement's dedication, highlighting the dangers they face daily. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case, with further decisions regarding charges against Andrews pending.
