The suspect, a 49‑year‑old woman wielding two knives, was shot by NYPD officers. All three were transported to Bellevue Hospital where the victim and the suspect were later pronounced dead, while the 68‑year‑old man remains in a stable condition.

Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the event as an "unprovoked double stabbing" that occurred within roughly 20 seconds of each other. The attack began near West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue, targeting a man who had just exited the subway and stood beside his wife.

Witnesses reported the suspect removed two knives from a red Target bag, waved them, and stabbed the first victim’s abdomen. Police tried to disarm her for four minutes; she declared she would not drop the weapons and threatened the officers.

After Tasers proved ineffective, officers fired a single shot that killed the suspect. She subsequently died at the hospital. She was identified as Pamela Cisneros from Queens, with a documented mental‑health history with the NYPD in 2018 and 2019.

“I’m shocked,” said Boston tourist Melinda Puzon, who heard the shots and saw people on the street. Mayor Zohran Mamdani thanked the officers for preventing the incident from worsening, while the commissioner noted its unprovoked nature.
