Three individuals have been charged with an attempted arson attack at the offices of Volant Media in Park Royal, north-west London, which is known for running the Persian language news channel Iran International. The incident occurred on Wednesday night when an ignited container was thrown at the building around 20:30 BST but landed in a nearby car park where the fire quickly went out.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Oisin McGuinness, 21, Nathan Dunn, 19, both from Watford, and a 16-year-old boy from north London have been charged with arson with intent to endanger life. All three are British nationals and are expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
In addition to charges of arson, McGuinness has also been charged with dangerous driving following a police pursuit that ended when a black SUV crashed on Ballards Lane in Finchley.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or damage resulting from the attack. Nearby buildings were evacuated as a safety precaution but were reopened shortly after police confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public. This incident follows another arson attempt earlier in the week, where two petrol-filled bottles were thrown at a synagogue in Finchley, prompting wider concerns over safety in the area.
