Didier Dubreucq, one of the aging criminals involved in the infamous heist of reality television star Kim Kardashian, has died at the age of 69 just one month after his conviction, as reported by French media. Dubreucq, who was undergoing treatment for lung cancer, was undergoing chemotherapy prior to the start of his legal proceedings.

In May, he and seven other suspects were found guilty for the high-profile robbery that took place nearly a decade ago in Paris, where millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry were stolen from Kardashian. Dubreucq maintained his innocence, claiming, “It’s a mistaken identity case... I had nothing to do with this,” during his court testimony in April.

Due to his ongoing chemotherapy, Dubreucq, often referred to by his nickname "Blue Eyes," was absent during the sentencing phase. He received a seven-year sentence, but five of those years were suspended. Since he had already served two years in pre-trial detention, he did not spend any additional time in prison post-sentencing. Three of his accomplices were also sentenced to terms up to eight years; however, they similarly were not imprisoned due to time already served. The presiding judge, David De Pas, remarked that the health conditions of the defendants ethically barred them from being incarcerated.

The court proceedings revealed harrowing details of the robbery, with Kardashian recalling the traumatic experience of being bound and threatened at gunpoint. On the day she testified, she expressed the fear that she "would be shot dead on the bed." The total theft amounted to around $10 million, including an engagement ring worth $4 million, gifted to her by rapper Kanye West at the time. Following the verdict, Kardashian described the incident as "the most terrifying experience of my life," emphasizing its lasting impact on her and her family.
