Sicilian Tornado Rips Through Marsala and Petrosino

A tornado tore through the western part of Sicily on Friday, ripping through the city of Marsala and the neighbouring town of Petrosino. Local media reported the violent winds overturning cars and damaging buildings.

Two people were injured in the storm, and significant structural damage was documented across the affected area. Residents who were caught outside were quoted as describing the experience as “frightening” amid the swirling debris.

Thunderstorms swept across the island on Friday, producing the conditions that allowed a tornado to form. Following the major outbreak, weather conditions in Sicily eased, but meteorologists warn that more severe weather is forecast across parts of the central Mediterranean in the coming days.
