In brief
Five people have been charged in connection with the murder of Przemyslaw Jeziorski, a distinguished professor at the University of California, Berkeley, who was tragically shot multiple times on July 4, 2025, in a suburb of Athens. Among those detained are his ex-wife and her current partner. Jeziorski, a Polish national and a professor of quantitative marketing at the Haas School of Business, was in Greece visiting his children when the incident occurred.
In an initial court appearance, the suspects faced charges of intentional homicide. The identity of the suspects has not been disclosed yet. Jeziorski's ex-wife's attorney has vigorously denied that she was involved, dismissing claims of any contentious custody battle concerning their young children. On the day of the murder, police reported that Jeziorski was approached and shot in both the chest and back in Agia Paraskevi while arranging visitation rights for his kids. According to officials, his ex-wife had previously attempted to restrict his contact with the children before the tragic event unfolded, raising questions about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
