At least twelve people were killed and twenty injured when Russian missile and drone strikes hit Kyiv and wider Ukraine last night, officials said. A depot in the capital’s railway zone suffered the most devastation, killing six crane‑drivers, crossing‑guard staff and other workers of state‑run Ukrzaliznytsia.
Russia claims the massive strike used high‑precision weapons against military and energy targets, while an independent report linked a single casualty to the Ukrainian‑heavy Belgorod region after a retaliatory strike. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Vladimir Putin to move beyond endless war to a “peaceful end” during a Kyrgyzstan security summit.
The attack also hit the nearby town of Boryspil, where an apartment building was struck and eight civilians were killed, including a 26‑year‑old Indian citizen. The legislative branch noted the ongoing damage as part of an expanded campaign that included nine other Ukrainian regions.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that over three hundred rescue workers were on the ground for a full night to carry out emergency responses across Kyiv and its outskirts. He also warned that Russia had fired a “significant quantity” of jet drones and ballistic missiles, aiming to pressure Ukrainian air defences and erode civil morale.
Russian officials have warned that their forces plan further massive strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, while Ukraine notes that such targets directly support Moscow’s war effort. The continuous bombardment has marked the sixth day of relentless attacks on the capital, as Ukrainian forces mobilise for concerted defence operations in the region.
