Russia has carried out a massive overnight attack on 14 regions of Ukraine, with local authorities confirming at least one death and injuries to 30 individuals, including children, in the southern Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia launched nearly 540 drones and 45 missiles, urging for tougher sanctions on Moscow. The Russian defense ministry claimed that all intended targets were achieved during the strike, although this statement has not been independently verified.
This escalation follows a recent wave of violence, with Kyiv experiencing its second-largest aerial attack of the war, which resulted in at least 25 fatalities. Reports indicate that the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region faced numerous attacks on infrastructure facilities as well.
Today’s attacks by Russia included strikes reported on key infrastructure, leading to widespread fires and destruction across central and southeastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian military, in response, confirmed drone strikes on Russian oil refineries in Krasnodar and Syzran, resulting in significant explosions and damage.
As diplomatic efforts continue for a peace deal, Zelensky emphasized the need for global support against Russian aggression, stating, We expect action from the US, Europe, and the entire world. The situation remains tense, with EU officials meeting to discuss further sanctions aimed at crippling Russia's war resources.
