In May, Amira embarked on a perilous journey through one of Sudan's most violent war zones after the Rapid Support Forces seized her city, En Nahud. Left with no hospitals or pharmacies, and fearing for her unborn child, she had no choice but to flee. Her accounts reveal not only the extreme dangers of the journey — including armed RSF drivers and overwhelming extortion — but also the vulnerability of civilians in this brutal conflict. Having recorded an audio diary throughout her experience, Amira detailed the terror of her travels, including encounters with armed men and checkpoints, noting that every moment was fraught with dread. Ultimately, after a grueling trip that took her through arduous conditions, she reached safety in Uganda, though the uncertainty about her family and the future loomed heavy as she prepared to give birth.
