Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported that a missile that fell in eastern Poland created a 10‑meter crater near the village of Tarnawa Kolonia, roughly 100 kilometres from the Ukrainian frontier.
All indicators point to a Russian Kh‑101 ballistic missile, though officials are awaiting complete confirmation regarding the missile type and launch source.
Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister said the Kh‑101 missile crossed Polish airspace as part of a massive Russian strike on the city of Lviv.
Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak‑Kamysz noted that about 20 objects were seen close to Polish airspace overnight and that pyrotechnical analysis is ongoing to identify the fallen object.
Polish air force detected the missile at approximately 03:40 local time and deployed an F‑16 fighter jet to intercept it before radar systems lost the target.
No injuries were reported but the incident is being handled as a serious security matter.
Earlier on Thursday, Tusk met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Lublin after Zelensky returned from talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.
