After the untimely death of 33‑year‑old model and actor Twisha Sharma on 12 May 2026, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has opened a formal case in Bhopal city.
The 600‑page chargesheet names Twisha’s husband, lawyer Samarth Singh, and his mother‑in‑law, retired judge Giribala Singh, with sections on abetment to suicide and cruelty. Both accused parties have denied the allegations.
Twisha’s death sparked an unprecedented media and public interest. Critics suggested that the accusers, coming from a prominent judicial background, should set a moral example, yet the case exposed alleged marital abuse and dowry disputes.
The CBI report states that after marrying in December 2025, Samarth subjected Twisha to repeated mental cruelty and murky language, while Giribala allegedly encouraged the abuse. Allegations by Twisha’s parents included forced abortion and claims of her “carrying someone else’s child.”
Giribala and Samarth have maintained that Twisha suffered from mental health issues and voluntarily ended her life. The CBI will seek permission for further investigation, indicating that the case remains open for new evidence or potential supplementary charges.
