Singer Chappell Roan has announced her departure from the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman, whose name has surfaced in connection with the Epstein files. In her statement, Roan emphasized her 'duty to protect her team' and that her decision stemmed from a belief that 'meaningful change in our industry requires accountability'.

Wasserman has faced scrutiny after flirtatious emails he exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell became public as part of the Epstein investigation. While Roan didn't directly mention Epstein in her announcement, she expressed that 'no artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.'

Wasserman has stated that he deeply regrets the emails and highlighted that those exchanges occurred long before Maxwell’s crimes were known. He also clarified that he has never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, recounting a humanitarian trip he took on Epstein's plane in 2002 with the Clinton Foundation.

Roan’s departure follows similar expressions from other artists represented by Wasserman, indicating a growing desire within the industry to distance themselves from figures associated with unethical behavior. The BBC has reached out to Wasserman for comment amidst the ongoing discussions about accountability in the entertainment industry.
