Prominent American agent Casey Wasserman is reportedly set to sell his talent company after documents linking him to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell were published in the US.
Several high-profile clients, including singer Chappell Roan, quit the firm this week after it emerged that Wasserman flew on Epstein's private plane and exchanged flirtatious emails with Maxwell in 2003.
US media reported that Wasserman told employees he had become a distraction as he announced his intention to sell the major LA-based agency.
The 51-year-old, who has also resisted calls to step down from his role as chair of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, previously stated he had no personal or business relationship with Epstein.
Wasserman expressed in a memo, I'm deeply sorry that my past personal mistakes have caused you so much discomfort. It's not fair to you, and it's not fair to the clients and partners we represent so vigorously and care so deeply about. He also mentioned his deep regrets for his communications with Maxwell, who is currently serving time for crimes related to Epstein.
Despite being linked to Epstein in historical context, Wasserman has not been accused of any wrongdoing by Epstein's victims. The appearance of his name in the documents does not imply any criminal behavior.
In a recent statement, LA28 confirmed that Wasserman would maintain his role as chairman, following a review of his past interactions with Maxwell, finding no evidence of misconduct beyond previously disclosed communications.
As recent events unfold, more clients are stepping away from Wasserman's agency. Roan announced her departure via an Instagram post, emphasizing that no stakeholder should defend actions that starkly contrast with their values.
Similarly, former US footballer Abby Wambach stated she is leaving the agency based on her principles, asserting she will not participate in any business arrangement under his leadership.
