Sheriff Grady Judd remarked on the situation, stating that while Polk County welcomes visitors, they expect appropriate behavior from all. The altercation escalated when a young girl intervened, jumping into the pool to help the victim. The conflict only ceased after two neighboring holidaymakers alerted authorities. Gibbon was subsequently arrested and is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, along with two counts of battery, and may find himself in Florida longer than anticipated as a result of his actions.
