In brief

A small plane crashed on Avenida Marques de São Vicente in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday morning, killing both occupants aboard. The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. local time, when the aircraft struck the ground and subsequently collided with a bus, injuring six individuals. According to the São Paulo fire department, one of the injured was a passing motorcyclist while the other five were bus passengers who managed to escape before the ensuing fire engulfed the vehicle.

Fire crews arrived shortly after the crash to find both the plane and the bus ablaze. Captain Ronaldo Melo shared that the fire was intense, but fortunately, none of the injuries sustained by the bus passengers were severe. Eyewitness videos surfaced online, depicting thick black smoke and flames engulfing the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains unknown, but it is believed that the plane, which had taken off from Campo de Marte Airport, crashed shortly after departure while en route to Porto Alegre, situated nearly 700 miles to the south. Firefighters had cleared the site of the incident approximately three hours later, restoring order to the area after the alarming divergence of aviation and road safety that resulted in both fatalities and injuries.
