In brief

A man named Mordechai Brafman, 27, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after shooting at two Israeli tourists in Miami Beach. Brafman reportedly believed the tourists were Palestinian, attributing his violent actions to a severe mental health crisis.

On Saturday, Brafman exited his truck and opened fire on the tourists, but fortunately, neither sustained serious injuries. His defense attorney, Dustin Tischler, emphasized that Brafman had no history of violence or hatred and expressed remorse for his actions. Since the violent events between Israel and Hamas escalated last October, crime motivated by identity-related issues has surged, affecting both Jewish and Muslim communities. Brafman is currently being held without bond and is scheduled for a hearing later this week.
